Thats interesting and all, but I dont want to be in the same system when enough power is used to destroy Mercury. You dont destroy planets. We could perhaps throw it out of orbit or something (that would require comical amounts of energy, but still just a fraction of what is required to destroy it). I dont even know if we could make enough nukes to do it with the material on this planet. I dont think people realize how powerful gravity binding is on a planet : the current global nuclear arsenal would need to be about ten billion times more powerful to achieve the energy required to destroy Mercury. The math is based on the joules of the current arsenal (7x10^15) and Mercury's gravitational binding energy (1.7x10^32). Now, these numbers are NOT rock solid, but the estimates are available and the distance between the numbers are way to high to even consider it. Note that it is very possible to destroy a planet without reaching the binding limit, but that is the assured number.

Watching this before going to sleep is oddly calming.

At 9 minutes 6 seconds into the video you show a map - which lacks New Zealand. This is an annoyingly common mistake, often claimed to happen due to its "small size". Let me assure you, New Zealand is not as small as people believe. It's only a little smaller than Italy, it's quite a bit larger than the UK, it's way larger than Ireland and more than double the size of Iceland. The latter 3 being islands like New Zealand. All those smaller countries are featured on your map whereas New Zealand is not - That is despite New Zealand actually having a space program and regularly launches payloads into space. It's called "Rocket Lab", look it up! 🙄 Apart from this I agree with the arguments in this video.
